Trees planted by the subdivision developer

The landscaper, Ideal Lawn Solutions, who planted the crepe myrtles between the curb and the sidewalk. informed us that these trees are:

  1. 15-gallon Natchez Crepe Myrtles.
  2. These trees are disease-and-pest resistant, as well as deer tolerant.
  3. They will grow 3'-5' each year, reaching a maximum height of 30'.

As per the city horticulturist, he will be meeting with his dept head, about any options homeowners might have to change some of the trees. With year end demands, it might be after Christmas before we know anything. He did confirm that anything done to the crepe myrtles must be approved by the city. Cutting or removing trees on city property, without approval, can result in fines. The city doesn’t structurally prune the trees, but they do clearance pruning for the street and sidewalks. He also confirmed that the landscaper would not be refilling the water bags- that would be left to the homeowners.

As for watering, Anita and Larry and Bob Skeel have volunteered to water the oak trees at the North Station and Blueberry entrances.

As we get more information from the city, we will keep you updated.
